Prosecutions in North MAGISTRATE GIVES WARNING "The Whangarei County Council appears to be getting busy on the question of straying stoek and offenders in this direction will have to bo careful in future," said Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., at the Police Courfc last week when the county inspector, Mr. S. 0. Orams, proeeeded against several farmers in various loealities concerning the straying of horses, cows, bulls and pigs. One defendant said that it was very hard to prevent, say, a horse from getting on to the road while shifting other stoek. The Magistrate: There is only. one thing to do, and that is to go straight after the horse, as the county council is obviously not going to stand for straying stock. Tho magistrate imposed fines ranging from 5/- to 10/- and costs in each case.
