Better Prices This Season
N.Z. SCHEME PR0BABLE Improved conditions in the bohby calf trade wefe predicted by the president, Mr H. E. Blyde, at a meeting of the North Taranaki executive of the Earmers ' Union. It was hoped that in 1938 the Dairy Board would be in control of a pool whieh would eliminate overlapping in collections and complaints of cruelty. He had been dnstructed to invesfcigato a local pooling scheme, said Mr Blydo. 1 llo had discussed the matter fully and realised there wero cortain difficulties. making it impossible to have a satisfactory poOl this season. The Government had made some arrangements witli the operators, and conditioms this year would be improved. Farmers could look forward to at least a slight improve- { ment in prices. A bobby calf was worth i about 8/4 at the works, which meant ! that farmers would receive about 6/6 o r 7/-* 1 Oomplaints that farmers on^ roads where only one firm was colleeting received lower prices than other farmers were mentioned bv Mr H- A. Hunt. The ouly solution of that diffieulty seemed to be a po°L Mr Blyde.
