Hon. P. C. Webb Hears Several Deputations

waihua, Tnis uay. The Hon. P. C. Webb, aeting-Minis-ter of Labour, accompanied by Mr W. Bromley and party, arrived in Wairoa vesterday afternoon and left this morning for Napier en route to Wellington. Last evening the Minister heard sev(■r.'i] small deputations, including one from the Mangapoike settlers and the Wairoa Uounty Council in reference to the re-erection of the Tukemokihi bridge, on the Wairoa-Gisborne road via Mangapoike. He was also approached regarding the apportionment oi' interest costs between the County ' Council and the Borough Council in connection with the proposed cantilever stodk bridge at Rurumua. The question of rivef erosion at the northern end of the Wairoa traffic bridge was also brought up. The Mayor, Mr H. L. Harker, thanked tjie Minister for his proinpt action in subsidising relief labour in the borough. Aii the deputations had a sympathetic hearing, aud Mr Webb promised to submit to the Ministers reaponsible the uiatters ' brought before him.-
