Social Justice Session
M.
MARTIN
Sir, — -I hope that when '2ZH Napier docs eventually explain why they have discontinued the "Social Justice" session of a Sunday evening, they will throw eome light upon those mysterious breakdowns which used to take place. lt does seein strange that the equipment which could transmit the march preceding the talk would. suddenly prove def ective if the subject matter of the . talk drew attention to little eponoinic . inequalitios which we are forced tlirougli our own ignorance largely to suft'er from. Many listeners of ihy acquaintance discussing this subject have made remarks which were not altogether flattering to the Napier etabion. Are we to assume that 2ZH withholds its support to a movemeut which is nonpolitical, non-sectarian, but by the application of Christian principles only seeks to establish a new social order? No person, no matter how secluded his own life has been can fail to realiee that this world is filled with a vast mass of unfairness, cruelty and suft'ering. We all know, it has been observed throughout the ages by the thinkers, the poefcs and 'the philosophers. We all know that this brutal unfairness is not decreed by the will of God nor by any law of nature; it is the product of man's selfishness aud as such we surely do not lack the Christian courage to approach, and Avelcome, a world arranged by the wisdom hid in the hutnan heart, the organisation of a strong and universal kindnees redeemed t'rom the fear of insecurity, poverty and war. It is hard to believe that 2ZH would deliberately refrain from broadeasfcing a subjoet which is of such intense interest to a large number of listeners, and so, Sir^ I do hope an explanation will be forthcoming. Thanking you —
Yours, etc,, Waipawa, July 22, 1927.
