The section, which has & 40ft^ frontage on Market street and a deptlf of 60£t., is three-tenths of the propertyj owned by the Bank of New* South Walete, and is situated adjacent to thaf new premises of that bank on the cornar of heretaunga and Market streets. The purchasing party is tho. Bank of Aw tralasia. The property was put up f or auotion; in the Hawke's Bay Farmers' tea-rooma this afternoon by the Hawke '* Bay Farmers ' Co-op. Association, Ltd., with whom were as&ociated Hoadley, Son and Stewart, Ltd., in conjunction with Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd. Though there were about *20 persons presentv there was only one bid, that of £60 a foot; and this was passed in, the reservef being higher. j* However, immediately after the public offer, the property was dispoeed of by private treaty to the Bank of Aus-t tralasia, and the price announced wa 4 £80 a foot. ' ' At the present time the Bahh of Australasia is situated on leaseholdl property on the southern side of Here-i taunga street, in Market street.
