-Preaa Agsooiation.)

5/- Tote Advocated By Soiithland Chairman

(B» Telegraph-

INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Ihe need for providing eheaper racing for the public by the installation of a 5/- totalisator and reducing the gate charges was emphasised by the president of the Southland Racing Olub, Mr W. T. Hazlett,' at the annual meeting of the club to-nigiht. Mr Hazlett suggested that_ racing clubs should get together with the object of providing the public with eheaper racing. At present racing was too dear for the public, and he believed that if it were eheaper, more would attend the race meetings. He thougbt the time had eome for the installation of a 5/- totalisator, and the reduction of admission charges, but they would bave to get the Government to help. If the Government and the racing clubs eould get together and do something, the Government would probably get more out of the clubs.
