RECORD PRICES PAID
Imported Ayrshire Cattle Sold at Wellington Ayrshire breeders from every part of the Dominion were present at a sale of imported ■ Ayrshire cattle yesterday. The *ix head of imported cattle, fivo bulls and one heifer, were puTchased by the New Zealand Ayrshire Breeders' Association in Scotland and were shipped to the Dominion via Canada. The heifer Auchenbrain Crummie 28th, in calf to Tessnessoek Sunny Jim, brought keen competition from tho Southland breeder Mr A. M. Weir and Mr Q. Donald, Alloa, Featherston, Mr Donald paying 260gns., a record price for a heifer of the breed sold in New Zealand. Mr Weir and Mr J. H. Donald, Ardgowan, Featherston, clashed when the first bull was offered, This bull, Netherton Mahmoud, 18 minths old, was sired by the Highland show champion Tessnessoek Double'Cream. Mr J. G. Donald had to pay a record price for New ZeaInad to secure this bull, 390gns. Competition was keen throughout the sale, and the average for the six lots was just under 231gns., easily a record for the Ayrshire breed. The remaining cattle, sold as follows: Greenan Bondsman, 18 pionths old, by Netherton Beau Ideal, Mr W. Moore, Homebush, Masterton, 200gns. Auchenbrain" Yellow Karyl, 17 months | old, by Auchenbrain Royal Blood. i Messrs T. M. and D. M. Thomson, ! Waiuku, Auckland, 170gns. ! Greenan Barascope, 16 months old, bv ' Burton Butterfat, Mr W.
