-Press Association.)

Washed Ashore on Petone Beach

(By Telegraph-

WELLINGTON, This Day. A huge octopus with tentaeles 22 feet iong came ashore near Petone this morning, apparently in a dying condition. It is the biggest ever known in Wellington waters and of a size very rare outside the tropics. It had been beaten by the waves and at is not likely to remain long as a speetacle. It has been photographed, and this is the only record likely to survive itsdecease.
