SUCCESSFUL DANCE ARRANGED BY THE H.B. FARMERS' STAFF
A particularly gay siglit was to be seen in the Qddfellow's Hall, Hastings, last evening, when the staff of the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Co-op. Association, Ltd., Hastings, held their staff re-union and dance. The hall, which was filled to capacity with dancers, was decorated with streamers in bands of colours, red, white, blue, yellow and green and- the windows were curtained with paper curtains in these colours with clusters of streamers at the sides. Multicoloured balloons added to the bright apearance of the hall, and when filled with dancers all wearjng jaunty little caps the scene was exceptionally bright. At one end of the hall was an euec-tricaily-lit badge with H.B.F. Staff, and below this was shown the names of the branches, Napier, Waipukurau, Takapau, Dannevirke, and the colour representing each, there being present members of the staff from each braneh. Bxcellent music for the dancing was played by Gordon lledward's orchestra, and supper extras were played by Mr Carmichael and liis orchestra. Many novelty dances were included • in the programme, among them a Monte Carlo dance which was won by Miss N. Hayes and Mr Edwards. A very delicious supper was served in the supper room, the long tables being decorated with vases of iceland poppies, and this was enjoyed by everyone. The men's committee, who were responsible for ihe decorations and wbo worked with the ladies' committee to make the arrangements for the dance were: Messrs Colin Crichton (chairman), Douglas Baird (secretary), D. H. Doak, R. Hollever, P. Wqlsh, N. Fritchley, R. Symons, F .Craig and T. Cullinane. The ladies' committee were: Miss M. Lockhead, black georgette gown with a, brilliant studded belt and red spray. Miss J. Sullivan, palest blue flowered chiffon with puffed sleeves and sash. Miss I. Peters, black French matelasse gown worn with a matching cape. Miss B. Normandy, blue water marked taffeta gown worn with pink roses at the neck. Miss D. Menzies, blue stiffened net mounted on taffeta with frills at the ,hem. Miss P. Cocks, spring, green taffeta with a gold eorsage flower on one slioulder. Miss N. Hannah, delphinium blue water-marked taffeta gown and a blue velvet coatee. Miss N. Simon, black, taffeta gown with puffed sleeves and ivory satin col-
lar. Miss E. Hackett, black velvet gown worn with a blue velvet 'evening coat. Miss N. Sutton, black chantilly lace gown with puffed sleeves. Among the others present were :— Mr C. Douglas and Miss Douglas, Mr H. Lawlor, manager of the Takapau braneh and Mrs Lawlor who wore a gown of black floaral georgette with a flame velvet coatee. Mr J. Z. Vigers, the manager of the Dannevirke braneh and Mrs Vigers, who wore a gown of cherry georgette with shirred eorsage. Mrs W. Clark, black georgette gown worn with bright eorsage fiowers. Mrs J. W. Cato, long-sleeved gown of blue needlerun lace. Mrs H, Macdonald, magnolia (hantilly lace with tiny kilted georgette frills trimming" the skirt. - Mrs J. Vesty, black georgette gown with a eorsage spray of g^een fiowers.
Mrs D. H. Doak, black stiffened net with narrow bands of satin edging the full ekirt. Mrs Colin Crichton, black panne velvet with a flared basque and white fiowers at the waist. Mrs T. Mrs Upchurch, dove grey georgette with insets of needlerun lace. Mrs L. Fowler, sunset pink taffeta with puffed sleeves and flared basque. Mrs R. Scorgie, blue, black and white plaid taffeta, with a velvet sash. Mrs L. Mayo, cameo pink georgette with greqn eorsage fiowers. Mrs R. Parkhill, magnolia satin gown with a clasp of brilliants at the neck. Mrs L. A. Miller, rose silver threaded cloque and a black taffeta coatee. Mrs A. Engebretsen, royal purple satin with a, silver girdle and eorsage spray.
