Thousands File Past Bier In Rome ITALY'S GREAT LOSS

Mourned throughout Italy, the Marchese Marconi is now lying in state in Galatea Hall of the Royal Italian Academy of which he was president, People of all classes filed past the bier, making the sign of the eross. Italian broadcasts throughout the day gave out only solemn musio. Marconi spent yesterday tnorning at his usual tasks and visited the Aoademy wherein he now lies. He was due at 6 p.m. to see Signor Mussolini to report his latest experiments ^ and, thougih teeling ittdisposed, he said: "I must go. Something teils me that this is the last time 1 shall see 11 t)uce." Someone, howevef, teiephoned the doctor who, after an examlttation, persuaded Mareoni to telephoUe his apologies to Mussolini. Marconi later appeared to recover. He refused to allow anyone to communicate with his wit'e who, with his daughter Fletra. was away on a short holiday.
