SUCCESSFUL INSTITUTE DANCE AT TE POHUE
The Te Pohue — Ohurakura Womeii's Institute supporters were present in lai'ge numbers at the institute' s annual ball held in the district Town Hall on Saturday. The success of the dance was assured by the large attendance, and the careful preparation made by the members resulted in one of the most enjoyable evenings in recent years. The. decorations> supervised by Mrs Havard and helpers," were speeially effective, being composed of eloselystrung streamers in red, white and blue, suspended from a square centrepiece intermingled with clustered balloons, while two big crowns, mounted on 'navy, the work of Mrs Havard, finished off the stage. Lighting was a special .feature, and kad been arranged and lent by JMr A. Pothen. Music was supplied by the Napier BufE. Orchestra, and several novelty dances resulted as follows: — Monte Carlo, Miss Yvonne McRobbie and Mr T. Pothan • spot dance, Mrs Havard and Mr L. Stephens; ballooh dance, Mrs Hughes and Mr Hartley. The sumptuous supper was in the capable liands of Mesdames Lopdell, Hughes, Palmer, Atkens, Elliott, Adsett and King, and was enjoyed by everyone. At the conclusion of the evening Mrs Brooks, the president, who had been the M.O. during the evening, thanked everyone who had helped to make the dance a success. Among those present were: — Mrs H. McRobbie, frilled embroidery anglaise, u*ith cherry fiilishings and ivory velvet, coatee; Miss P. Howell, powder blue lustrous satin ; Miss Doris McRobbie, pretty frock of blue, with pink spray; Miss McConachy, figured voile ; Mrs W. King, black georgette relieved with diamante; Miss Hilda Brooks, gown of black velvet, finished with silver girdle; Mrs Nissen, blue satin gown and coatee; Miss Jessie King; blue marocain; Miss Cavanagh, black marocain; Mrs Elliott, palm green crepe de cbine ; Miss McConachy, lemon cordaline; Mrs Hali, model white georgette frock poasant design ; Miss Jean King, figured taffeta; Miss Jeanette McRobbie cream rin@ velvet with lettuce green velvet coat; Miss Clare Brooks. fiame satin with net over the dress and white panne velvet cape ; Miss Phyllis Adsett, pretty blue angalaine; Mrs Toru King, floral crepe; Miss B. Leyland, dainty figured silk; Mrs Havard, blue and white voile; Miss B. Palmer, smart navy frock, with touches of white crepe de cbine; Mrs Lopdell, cinnamon brown llat crepe; Miss R.
