Wallace Completes 1000, Runs for Tour INTERESTING CRICKET ;Prom the Special Correspondent of th*
with the Team.)
(Received 20, 11.0 a.m.) GLASGOW, July 10. A friendly and generous crowd eat^ eventful cricket when New Zealand continued their first innings against i Scotland this morning. The match coincided with the annual fair holidaya, which are really the observanc© of the old-time holidays without. the oidtirne fair. Cricket lovers from all part* of the country attended, the crow;d again numbering nearly 5000. Only Garson and Moloney offered any prolonged resistance to the wellcontrolled slow bowling of Melville and Peebles. On a soft pitch the last . five wickets fell quickly for 69. Page hit the stumps so strongly that he broke a bail. Although Gibb was aggressive and Heggie and Tod were steady, th* home side was dismissed in the second innings? for just enough to make the game interesting. Dunning was par-» ticularly steady dismissing the three best hatsmen early. Moloney and Gallichan acoounted for the later batsmen who fell to , slow spinners, supported by good catching. * New Zealand started dashingly, despite Kerf's second failure of the match when eonfronted with a nejtv ball. Vivian batted aggressively. His 24 included three fours and two threes. Wallace, with 35 (three fours and two sixes) attained his coveted goal of 1000 for the tour in firsj class matches. He is the fifth apjateur to achieve the distinction this sqason, . the. other* being Dempster, Mitchell-Innes, Kimpton and Wyatt. ' Donnelly mixed attack with defence with judgment. He frequently'used his favourite hook and cover strokea. His 48 included eight fours. Scores : — SCOTLAND . First Inningp ^ M m m 23f Second Innings. V ..
