HAWKE'S BAY HUNT RACES

Colleen Gain and Bunfight Win Final Everits TOTALISATOR INCREASF JFirst-class racing waa provided in the eoncluding events of the Hawhe's Bay Hunt's annual race meeting, postponed from Saturday and held yesterday at Hastings. A number of close and exciting finishes were staged, the flelds having been particularly well brought together by the handicapper, Mr. H. Coyle. At the eonclusion of the Hawke's Bay Hunt Cup Steeplechase the presentation of the cup, which wlis donated by Dr. R.. Raymond, of Waipukurau, was made in the birdcage. On behalf of the Hunt Club the president, the Hon. H. A. Russell, M.L.C., congratulated Mr. J. Brice, the owner of Miss Pango, who won the event after running a splendid race. The cup was then presented to Mr. Brice by Mrs. T. Sherratt, wife o£ the master of the Hunt. The only misliap of the day was in the steeplechase event, in which Oifa fell. The rider, C. L. Kerr, who was severely shaken, but was not extensive* ly injured, was subsequently taken to hospital. The meeting was most successful, more especially in view of its being a postponed iixture. The totalisator liandled £5696 for the day, as cooipared with £5621 for the corresponding iixture last year, which was held on a Saturday. To be able to show an increase under these circumstances was .most gratifying. The seeretary, Mr. A. E.
