MINERS' CLAIMS

Bigger Wages, Smaller Hours SYDNEY, July 19. The ftrat conference on the coaltminers' claims for increased wages aiid shorter hours, held to-day between the, Broken Hill Broprietary, Ltd., of Newcastle, and miners' delcgates, resulted in the rejection of the miners' log but the company agreed further to confer if the miners' deldgation modified and revised the claims. The Broken Hill Proprietary owns a number of northem and southern mines and these were treated independently in the negotiations with the miners' leaders.
