MR. THOMAS EMMERSON
The death of a well-kno wn Hastings cifcizen, Mr. Thomas Emmerson, occurred in Hastings this morning, and his passing will be deeply regretted by a wide circle of friends, particularly among the Masonic fraternity. Of late his health had been indifferent, but nevertheless his death was unoxpected. The late Mr. Emmerson was born at Birkenhead 59 years ago, and he had had the uniquo experience of having been connected with the motor industry since its inception. He was for many years chief engineer of the London Omnibus Co. He came to New Zealand in 1908 to join the Adams Motor Co,, with which he served in Christchurch and Timaru. In 1917 he arrived in Hastings under engagement to the Tourist Motor Co., as works manager, in which capacfEy he served for many years until he commenced a motor business oh his own account, About a year ago he disposed of his business to Mr. Frank Eraser, devoting the whole of his time as adjuster to the North Island Motor Union Insurance Co. As a freemason- the late Mr. Emmerson was widejy and favourably known. He was initiated inbo the craffc in London, and since coining to New Zealand he had continned to take a keen and active interest. He was a foundation member of the Timaru Lodge and Haeata, Hastings, being the first senior warden of the latter. To mourn their loss Mr. Emmerson leaves a widow and in England a brother and two sisters. The funeral will take place at the Hastings Cemetery at 2 p.m. to-mor-row.
