O.HB. Queen Carnival. Porangahau, with 5600 .votes, still occnpies first place an the order of voting in the Central Hawke 's Bay Bugby Sub-Union' s queen carnival. Takapau, with 4800, and Waipukurau, 4800, are seeond and tkird respectively. The voting in the other centres is as follows: Otane-Omakere-Te Aute, 3970; Ongaonga- Waipa wa, >8294; TikokinoWaipawa, 600. The total amount colleeted to date us £288 11/-. Wintry Conditions. The monthly iueetiug of the Clive Publie Library Committee was held last sveek, Mr J. Heilyer presiding over Mrs Prauk Merritt, Misses B. Merritt. M. McGrath, M. Heilyer, and Mr Frank Merritt. It was decided to enter into an exdhange of books with Otane and Ormondville libraries, Foi'ty hew books TVere put on the shelves last Week. Books may now be got from tbe library at a charge of 3d, per book. Loyal Abbotsford Loiige. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, Manehester Unity Oddfellows, the N. G. Bro, N. MacPherson, presiding over a fair attendance of members. Two candidates were initiated into the lodge, and one was proposed for membership. , It was decided that' tbo social committee should meet and consider the m&tter of social activities for the remaindef of the winter months. P.G. Bro. H. J* Milter, of Wellington, Was appointed to represent the lodge at the jubilee gathering of the Lodge Officers' Fidelity Guafantee Fund, to be held in Wellington on July 28.
