Te . Maori Defeat Wairoa by 12 Points to 1 1 WAIROA, This Day.

Heavy rain squalls throughout the ■day made conditions wretched for tho two Bugby football matehes played on the Lambton sports ground on Saturday afternoon. Apart from the junior representative and the High Sehool Old Boys combined vereus Pirates games, no other matehes tvere played. Other sports flxtures, including hockey. basketball and golf were abandoned. In the curtain-raieer Pirates defeated High School Old Boys combined by eight points to six. Mr C. Mori te fereed. Wairoa did all the attacking from the kickjoff in their match with Te Maori, the visitors gaining relief from several penalties. The home side kept up the attack and were rewarded by a good try, the ball travelling out to Pine on the wihg who got over in the corner. Golwell missed the kick. The Greens (Wairoa) kept up the pressure, when from half-way Goodleybroke through* with the ball at toe, carrying play to the line for Adsett to finish off. Colwell eonverted with a good kick. Wairoa 8, Te Maori nil. The Wairoa forwards continued to dominate play, and from a Bcrum near the line Jardine came through for Goodley to kick over the line and race the iield back to score. Golwell missed the kjck. Wairoa 11, Te Maori nil. Te Maori now did the attacking, and after going close to seoring on two occasions one of the forwards went Over for a try. The kick missed. Wairoa 11, Te Maori 3. The WMtes (Te Maori) kept going and went well down the field for another for ward try, inereasing their ecore to six. Play was even after half-tiine, both sides doing their share of attacking, the Whites having slightly the better territorially. Te Maori kept up -their pressing and missed a pen&lty kick from a handy |)Osition. The Greehs rallied and rushed play right down the field and were on the verge of seoring twice. The White forwards went up to the line and went over for a try after what had appeared to be a force. The kick missed. Wairoa 11, Te Maori 9. Once again the Whites attacked and scored well out. The kick missed. Te Maori 12, Wairoa 11. Shortiy after this score time was called. Mr C. 0. Mackay refereed,
