SHOWER OF FLAMING OIL
Gutters Flow with Burning: Petrol ATLANTIC CITY BLAZE (Received 19, 8.45 a.m.) ATLANTIC CITY, July 17. Flaming oil was sprayed on 10., 00® spectators when petrol storage tanks exploded, injuring 175, 38 of whum are in a critieal condition in hospitaL Many persons were trampled in making an effort to escape through. the streete. The gutters flowed with blazing petrol, menacing homes in a large area. The fire was extinguished with sand from the neighbouring sea beach. Fire departments from six cities straggled for a whole day before they extinguished the flames. It was chiefly firemen who were hurt.
