WITH THE HOUNDS
One of the Best of the Season MEET AT TIKOKINO [Contributed.] The meet of the Hawke '» Bay Hounds on Tuesday was held at the Sawyers Arms Hotel, Tikokino, to hunt country given by Messrs R. Matthews, D. Eddy, E. Limbrick, R. J. Brown, A. I'arkinson, J. Sullivan, and Morrison. Although it was misty there was no wind, and hounds drew iirst below tlio crossroads and rau over the road to the riverbed, across the ploughed land, and towards Mr Matthews 's country where, turning, the field had to take the road doublo twice and hounds rau back to the ploughed ground where, after a long ekeCk, the quarry was fiually lost. The master then drew Mr. Matthews 's hills, where several hares were put up. One gave a good run thrpugh the totara trees to the road and back to the hills opposite the homestead, and turning eame round towards the sports ground, only to double back to be finally lost ' in the bush overlookdng the township. The thanks of the hunt go to these owners who gave country which, incidentally, provided one of the best days this season.
