"WITHOUT PRECEDENT"

British Ship Fired On By Rebel Cruiser (Eeceived 16, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, July 15. "Is there no indignity which we will not tolerate?" asked a LabouT member in the House of Commons when Lieut.Colonel J. J. Llewellin, raaking a statement on behalf of the Admiralty mentioned that H.M.S. Eoyal Oak protested against the rebel Spanish cruiser Almirante Cervera flring a third shot at the Molton. Mr Arthur Henderson followed up by asking if it were not without precedent in English history for a British warship to stand by and allow a British ship to be attacked. - Lieut.-Colonel Llewellyin's reply that the ship was not attacked but was merely brought-to provoked derisive laughter from the Labour members.
