Bringing Australia and N.Z. Closer Together

OANBERRA, July 15. Speaking at a luncheon given by the Commonwealth Government to Hon, B, Somple, Dr. Earle Page, acting-Prime Minister, said within a comparatively few months flying boats would bring Sydney closer by air to Auckland than Canberra wa? to Sydney. Dr. Page said he would like to see closer collaboration between the Australian and New Zealand Governnrsnts in order to escape the traditional idea that the only place where Australian and New Zealand delegations might meet for full dress discussions was London. Mr. Semple, acknowledging the weicome, said tlie New Zealand Government was xeady to meet representatives of the Commonwealth to discuss trade difficulties. He emphasised that the artificial barriers against a satsfactory trade between tho two Domnions should be broken down.
