Thrown from Mounf. During the hunt meetmg at Takapau oja. Wednesday afternoon, Miss Aileen Hobson, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Hobson, of Hatuma, was thrown from her horse when the mount lost its footing. Miss Hobson suffered severe head injuries necessitating several stitches, and was later taken to hospital. A umque egg was produced a few days ago by a nen of the Rhode Island Red strain at Mr S. B. Davies1 farm, Waeren^a-a-hika, which, by ironical chance, is sltuated in the Poverty Bay proviuce. The outer shell contained a complete yolk, which, when blown out, revealed another egg, complete with shell, inside the large inaha shell. The mner egg was about the norma! size. The outer egg was 3 l-8in long and 2J iuches wide. Round the girth it measured 7jin, while measured round the outsid© from end to end the distance was 9in. The weight was o^ozs, compared with a weight of 2oz for the ordinary market egg. . Double-yolked eggs, even three-yolked eggs, have been | reported in the past, but this is the hrst occasion on which local residents have heard of a complete egg being encased in another. -
