CONTROL OF CAMPS

LONDON, June 16, The health of campers, holiday ' makora, and offlce workers will be safeguarded by new provi&ions, contained in the Public Health Act of 1936, whioh are expkined in a communication sent to local authorities by Sir ELingsley vVood. the Ministsr of Health. The Act is not designed. to discdurage holiday caxnping, but wil'l introduce, in the general interest of the eampehs auU of the community, xurther supervieion by local authorities ovfer sanitafy and other conditions relating to temporary and semi-permanent holiday or other dwellings. As the Act will not come into force Until October, the coming camping season Will not be ajfected. Control will be by licence, and it will be necessary for every owner or oceupier of the sdte of a camp where there is to be camping for more than foytytwo consecutive days or for more than sixty days ih a year, to obtain such a licence." Offlce 'buildings will be made subject. to eloser supervision by health authorities under further sections cf the Act. Local authorities will be required to see that offic.es haye proper sanitary convenienees, and empowered to prer vent ba-i ventilatipn, bad smells, dirt, and overcrowding in offlce buildings.
