Wanganui's Challenge To Napier WILSON CUP AT STAKE The Wilson Cup, for competition among golf clubs in the Hawke's Bay} Manawatu, Wanganui and 'Wairarapa districts, will be at stake during the coming week-end when a strong team, headed by B. M. Silk, ex-New Zealand amateur champion, will challenge the Napier Golf Club on the Waiohiki links, A strong team is coming from Wanganui for the event, in an endeavour to avenge the defeat inflicted by the Napier club on the Belmont iinks at Wanganui two years ago, those who will comprise the challenging team being, as follows : — B. M. Silk, J.. Goss, E. T. Hawarth, F. C. Hutchison, G. Saunders, J. P. Card, H. G. Carver, D. Power, A. C. Ashford, J. M. Hussey, 11. E. Jackson H. A. Howie.
The Napier team to defend the Wilson Cup will be as follows : — J. It. Hobbs, H. E. Crosse, H. J. Davies, 11. I. Harrison, A. D. Morris, A. A. Sinclair, F. C. Fryer, H. E. Troutbeck, A. Hawke, It. de lt. Worker, G. L. Home-Douglas, H. M. Elliott. In addition to the team of twelve to challenge for the cup, the 'Wanganui club are bringing a further 24 members to take part in an inter-club match with the Napier Club, Those taking part in this match will be the • following: — Wanganui:— D. Ivettle, C. Louisson, A. T. Spain, W. G. Hay, J. Harris, H. lt. Horsnell, A. Dinnie and F. G. Smith. The Wilson Cup matcli consists of 12 singles aud will be played in the afternoon. A fourball will be played in tlie morning but will have no uearing upou the match for the cup. The majority of tlie Wanganui players are expected to arrive at Napier on Saturday and will have an opportuuity of getting into touch with the Waiohiki course during the afternoon.
