VALUES IMPROVE

Short Yarding of Fat Sheep at Stortford KOHATUNUI EWES 36/9 A short yardiug of fat sheep at Stortford Lodge yesterday showed an all-round improvement in values. The pens contained a good number of butcher's quality sorts, which sold readily. An execeptional entry on account of Mr E. H. Beamish, "Kohatunui," of maiden six-tooth ewes topped the market for the season at 36/9. Heavy prime ewes ranged from 30/- to 33 /-, rnedium pens from 25/- to 27/-, and light -and. unfinished 18/6. Wethers were in increased supply, making to 36/6 for heavy prime entries. Mediuin quality light-fmished sorts made 27/6. Very few hoggets were penned, being chiefly very small-grown. Down from Elsthorpe, a pen of heavy prime, early-shorn wethers, whieh should kill out at 701bs., sold at 36/3. From the same vendors, a line of prime heavy ewes sold at 30/-. An entry of 21 unfinished light ewes, in hard condition, brought 18/9. A line of fairly-grown Southdown two-tooth wethers, in prime condition, realised 29/6. In from Otane, a line of prime wethers, very early shorn, brought 34/7. Ah entry* of 29 medium-weight ewes, quite well finiehed, made 25/6. In from Tangoio, a line of late-shorn w.ethers, some being fine in the wool, made 33/9. They would kill out at 561bs. On account of Oakbourne Station, an entry of heavy, prime, well-bred wethers, fine woolled, were sold at 36/3 to Mr. J. B. Flefeher. On account of the same vendors, 96 lighter well-woolled wethers made to 29/3. An entry of 59 very light unfinished owes, harsh dn the wool, brought 17/-. " On account of Mr. E. H. Beamish, "Kohatunui," a line of heavy, priine^ late November-shorn ewes sold at 31/6. The following pen of lighter ewes, ou account of the same vendor, brought 28/-. •From the same eouroe, a smail pen of extra-prxme, heavy, well-woolled maiden six-tooth ewes topped the ma*? ket for the season at 36/9. On' account ox the same vendor, a small pen of two-tooth ewes, exlra prime and fine finished, brought 33/u.
