"1937 REVEILLE"
First-CIass Entertainment LAST NIGHT'S PERFORMANCE Definite proof that the 1937 Reveille is a show that can stand on its own merita is provided for by the fact that the attendance at the Hastings Municipal Theatre last evening for the third performance showed an increase on either of the two previous nights. This, in itself, is the greatest recommendation that any stage show can have; and in addition it is quito the best tribute that a producer can be given. That the 1937 Reveille is really firsi.class entertainment, none tvho nave attended will gainsay. It has set a new standard in a^pateur production and congratulations are duo lirstly to Ihe producer, Mr. W. Lints; seconaiy to each and every one of the performers; and thirdly to all tliose others who absistcd in an unobstrusive manner in making the show the great succees it is. Quite apart from the nierits of tno 260 or so performers^ the production is quite the most spectacular seen in Hastings. for many years. Several of the scenes are magnificent in their very lavishness. Two such ecenes, that will be long remembered, are the opening and final assemblagea. In the f ormer over 100 of the performers are arranged in revolving squares, and in the latter more than 160 performers tako part in the one spectacle. Each as a masterpiece in stage spectacle, and aroused the admiration of tho crowd last night to exactly the same degTee as had been done the two previous nights. But there were other scenes, differing in eharacter, but of almost equal merit, such as the night club number, the human statuary and the oriental attraction. In all of these there was a surprising number of performers participating and so arranged and costumed as to present spectacles quite in keeping with the majority of professional shows. Quite apart from the fine ballet numbers there were innumerable other contributions that were every bit as much enjoyed. Solos, duets, and all manner of dancing were ancluded m the forty or more items on the programme and genuine appreciation was accorded each and every contribution. Despite the exceptional length of the programme there was not experienced a single dull moment. The 1937 Reveille will be presented at the Municipal Theatre this evening for the fourth and iinal time, and those who have not yet availed themselves of attending one of the earlier performances are advised -not to miss tonight's show.
