Meeting of Executive A meeting of the executive of the Hastings sdh-centre of the St. John Ambulance Association was held in the Borough' Couneil Chambers. The Mayor, ■Mr G.*- A. Maddison, presided ovei Mrs H. B. Knight, Messrs A. F. Red©rave A. Kirkpatrick, W. A. Whitlock, N . Davidson, H. Barden and R. Timms. Messrs H. G. Carr (treasurer) and.W. J. Wood (secretary) " were also present. An apology for abseric© was received from Mr H. W. C. Baird. Mr C. E. Meachen, general secretary of the Wellington centre, was present and gave an interesting address on the proposed establishment by- St. John Aniibulance Association of rohdside first-aid stations and of the blood-transfusion service. " The following committee was appointed to collaborate with the Red Cross Society in arranging street appeals and public appeals for finance: Messrs A.. Kirkpatrick, H. Barden aird W. J. Wood. . It was reported that the finances of the association had now taken a detinite turn for the better, due in a Jargo measure to the very fine generositj of Mr T. H. Lowry, who had donated the sum of £50, and a special vote of -thanks was passed to him and also to Messrs J. Chambers and H. C Baird for donations of £l 1/-. * The ■ superintendent, Mr H. Garden, reported that the attendances at the leetures were increasingj and that great interest was being shown in the work of the brigade.
