Adequate Service Can Be Arranged in Hastings ST. JOHN AMBULANCE 0FFER "There is no doubt that an adequate blood-transfusion can be arranged for the Hastings Soldiers' Memorial Hospital," said Mr W. J. Wood, secretary of the Hastings sub-centre of St. John Ambulance Association, this morning. "In fact, a service has actually heen available for some time." Mr Wood mentioned that at the instigation of the late Mr Cecil Duff, who was a member of the Hawke's Bay I-Iospital Board and also of tlie executive of the St, John Ambulance, a number of tlie members of tho brigade voluntarily acted as donors. On several occasions in tlie past tliey had given blood-transfusions. •- "Now that the Hospitai Board has made an appeal to ,the public for volunteers for the service," said Mr Wood, "it will be necssary. to place the arrangements for the service on a more official basis. "The brigade is perfectly willing to undertake this organisation," he added, "and direct the service in Hastings. Proposals alohg these lines are now being preparcd and will very shortly be placed before tlie Hawke's Bay Hospital Board for considerafcioa."
