A.A. Secretary's Proposed Tour
(By Telegraph-
WELLINGTON, This Day. To gain knowledge of the nctivities and administration of automobile asso. ciations in other parts of the world, Mr W. A. Sutherland, secretary of the Automobile Association, Wellington, is being sent by the association to Great Britain and the United States of America. He will leave toward the end of the yeiar. The decision arose from a recommendation made by the chairman, Mr E. A. Batt, after his return from a recent visit to England and America. While in London Mr Batt visited the Automobile Association of England, and following conversations with that organisaiton, and after observation of their activities, he decided to bring the matter before his executive immediately on his return. On the invitation o'f the A.A. England, Mr Sutherland will spend a month with that organisation, studying all phases of their activities, and at the same time the opportunity will arise for the mutual exchange of ideas with a view to greater facilities being introduced for the benefit of members of the A.A., Wellington, visiting England and for the increased number of British motorists who are visiting New Zealand. Mr Sutherland, who has been secretary of the A.A., Wellington, for six years, previously held the position of secretary of the Main Highways Board. During his term of office 'he has seen the association's membership increase by nearly 100 per cent.
