Fishing Righ'ts in Lake Rota Aira

AU CKL A ND^ Last Niglit. The case involving the right of Europeana to fish for trout in Lake Roto Aira in the Taupo district Was concluded in the Magistrate's Court today. The defendants against whom charges of breaches of the trout-fishing regulatidfih were brought by the Dephrtment of Internal Aifairs were: H. E. Barrowclough, Auckland, solicitor; W. W. Bove, Auckland, nierchant; W. H. Cocker, Auckland, solicitor; J, R. Gray, Auckland, solicitor; E. A. Harding, Dargaville, farmer; B. McLeod, Colyton, Feilding, farmer; J. R. Morris, Auckland, headmaster; and C. A. Whituey, Auckland, merchant. The Department contend'id that the sole rights of fishiug in Roto Aira had been reserved to One tribe of Maoris, and the defendants were charged with fishing in the lake. After lengthy legal argument decision was reserved.
