CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING

N.Z. Championship Meeting at Longlands minister takes part There was some exceptiopally keen shooting for the fourth day of the New ZeaJand Gun Club's Association annual championship meeting under the auspices of the Hawke's Bay Gun Club's grounds at Longlands yesterday. The principal event of the day was the £150 onen clay-bird handicap, ot 21 birds, and there was a tie of lour for first place. They were: D. P. Nortbe (Whangarei), Rex Oates ' (Tokomaru Bay). H. Howlett (Hastings) and W. Sharpe (Morrinsville). The following divided the balance of the prize-money: — J.- Malcolm, D. W. Davidson. D. M. Campbell, E. Groonv. R. Anderson, W. H. Sannders, H. Quartermann, C. C. Rae, F. Joblin. M. Kearins, W. A. Thomson, C. Webber and R. Malier. A special match, for trophies presented by Mr C. A. Whitney, of Auckland, resulted as follows : D. W. -Davidson (North Canterbury) 1, F_ Anderson 2, L. 'Maker (Taihape) 3. The Hon. \V. E. Parry, Minister oi Interna] Affairs, was present in an unolficial capacity, taldng part in the actua] shooting. Later he presented Ihe trophies to tfie winners and congratuiated them on their excellent s|^ootiug.
