GISBORNE, Last Nigttt. _ The typhoid epidemic among MaoriB in the Hiwera country and the stirrotmding distriets, which was believed to have subsided, still persists, and last week two patients from the Waimana distriet wefe admitted to tho Whakatane Public Hospital. So far as the Health Department has been able to ascertain the disease has no common source of infection attd carriers are probably responsible for its sptead rather than bad sanitation. It has been found at Ruatahuna and Opotiki, but it has been chiefly reported from Waimana. At the height of ttte outbreak some weeks ago 12 casCs wero in hospital at otte time attd there Were tw.o deaths.
