Non-Stop Over North Pole RUSSIAN ATTEMPT .

; MOSCOW, July 12. - A Soviet plane piloted by thp Russian laco Michael Gromoff and his assistant itook off to-day on another trans-polar flight to San Francisco non-stop. Gromoff 's assistant pilot is Major A. lYumashev, and his navigator S. Daniline. They made a perfect takeofl! from a Moscow suburb and will •attempt to smash the world record for la non-stop flight which is expeoted to 'last three days. They ar® flying a single-motored plane weighing 11$ tons and carrying 7$ tons of pertol. Gromoff, who said they hoped to reacih San Francisco via the North Pole, establishtd the 1934 world record for endurance in a closed circuit flying solo for 75 hours. He has specialised in testing planes and holds all the Soviet honours. He is 38 years of age and piloted Maxim Gorki. The weather xeports are unfavourable.
