Smith, had agreed % e lind £100 towards the cost of super-. vision and explosives, "I considered it quite a good schem®' and I endorsed it," Mr Smith said, He pointed out that the council usually; made a grant of £20 to the board so that, if there were any unexpected, expenditure over and above the £100, it could be met by that amount. Mr W* Tucker eaid he understood that the cost of explosives would be about £100 and the cost of supervision, somewkere near £200. Mr Smith: The council .was not committed in any way. Mr Lassen: Surely £120 would coveg the costs on a £920 jobi Mr Tucker: It is the explosiYes. Probably the whole of the top end has to be blown off. , T , The engineer, Mr E. Puflett, said he had roughly estimated the amount of supervision at £60 and explosives at £250. • • Surely the board is itself prepared to find some amount, seeing that it will be getting quite a big job. done very cheaply?" said the chairman. "It looks a bit like costing £310," Mr M. S.
