IMPROPER USE OF GAS
Pipe Connected to Main Without Permission NAPIER MAN FINED Charged with improperly using gas, the property of the Napier Gas Co., Ltd., by conneeting a pipe to the gas main Without permission, Samuel Kirkland,, of. Napier, motor dealer, was fined £5, with £1 11/- costs, by Mr J. Miller, S.M., in the Napier Magistrate's Court this morning. Tlie Magistrate coromented on the honesty of Napier people generally, the prosecution being the first of the kind for three years. For the defendant, Mr T. H. R. Gifford explained that defendant had been using anotlier man's meter, with his permission. The agreement had expired, and defendant ran the pipe away from' the meter and forgot to inforin the eompany on the day in question. He was well able to pay for the gas.
