DROVERS' DIFFICULTIES
The Fernhill Bridge RIVER CROSSING FOR STQCKI The difficulties experienced by drov* ers of etock, particularly of cattle, and by motorists in general in uegotiating the Fernhill bridge were. briefly referred to at the meeting of the Hawke's Bay County Council this morning. Mr E. H. Beamish said that it had heen suggested to him that a, river crossing should be provided for stock only. He pointed out that very ofteq s motorist actually negotiated ihe bend and was on he bridge ~pe£oTQ. it wai, possible for him to know that stock were on the other end of the bridge. That was a cUstinct danger, not only to stock and motorists, but also to - tfao bridge. .It was decided on his suggeation, tlxat iuquixies should be made of the Rivers Board as to whether that thf crossing as proposed would ; ffect thf board's river schexhe.
