WHAKATANE, This Day. After falling or jumping from a motor lorry on which he wqs riding without the driver ?a knowledge, Jamea Henry Shepherd} aged 11, son of Mr. W. Shepherd, an engine driver of Taneatua, was found lying on the TaneatuaRuatoki road pn Saturday afternoon unconscious. He died in the Whakatane hospital yesterday morning from a fractured skull. He alsq suffered a broken leg, cuts and abrasions. It is surmised that the boy boarded the back of the lorry to return to the township from the station where he had taken his father his tea. When about to jump off, he caught his clothes in some projection , being dragged by the lorry. The driver continued unaware of the fatality.
