Can They Upset Leadership Next Saturday? havelock beat pirates None of the games in the combined Hastings-Napier Rugby foothall competitipn on Saturday had any material effect on the leadership of the field, though by reason of having a hye, M.A.C. had to allow Marist again to take equal place with them at the head of the ladder. The series, however, did reveal Technical Old Boys in firstclass form, which should .ensure a record attendance at Nelson Park next Saturday when they meet M.A.C. in one of the vital games of the round. Tho maiix game at Hastings was the meoting of Technical O.B. and Hastings H.S.O.B,, and the Napier side scored a thorouglily-deserved win by the convincing margin of 27 points to 15. On the adjoining- area Havelock North and Piratcs, the two teams at the foot of the ladder, staged a splendid game, the" Villagers following up their win of tHe previous week with another success/ though only af ter a hard up-hill fight, tho finfial score being 14 — 13. Marist continued their winning way at Napier by trouncing Celtic by 22 points to three; but on the other ground at McLean Park, Napier H.S.O.B." were only just successful in downing- Hastings by 11 points to nine.
