ESKDALE MEETING

The first card evening organised by the Eskdale Women's Institute held at the president's residence. In spite of a very wet night there was a good attendance. The winners of the cards were Mrs F. Wilson and Mr F. Conway. After eupper, eompetitions ar-: ranged by the hostess were "jumbled trees," which was won by Mr F. Olds, and "missing words," which was won by Mrs King. The next evening! is to be held at the secretary's residence. Last week several members paid a surpriso visit to a fellow member, Mrs Fippard, who is leaving the district, when a happy evening was spent in games and eompetitions, the winners of the latter being Mrs Fippard and Miss" Blair. Mi*s Williams, president, on behalf of the members, in presenting Mrs Fippard with a pretty blue flower bowl, expressed regret at the loss of a very willing member. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought the visit to an end.
