BRITISH MUSIC SOCIETY
There was a good attendance of members of the singing group of the Hastings branck of th6 British Music Society at the home of Miss Olseu, Hastings etreet. The subject for the evening was Celtic music, and Miss Steele gave a most interesting talk on the Celtic peoples and music in the order: Irisk, Wclsh, Nortliern Scottish and Hcbredian, Flemish and Breton. She also gave pianoforte illustrations of music peculiar to these people. The following gave vocal illustrations: — Miss Olsen, "My Love's an Arbutus"4 (Xrish) and "The Ash Grove" (Welsh); Miss Williams, "Tho ^leeting of the Waters" (Irish); Miss Symonds, "The Minstrel Boy" (Irish); Miss Turner, "Dreaming of Home" (Irish); Mrs Corrigan, "An Eriskay Love Lilfc" (Hebredian); Miss Pope, "Gaelic Lullaby" (Hebredian). Miss Caldwell also sang "Bonnie Wep Thing" (Lowland Scotlish).
