Aeroplanes lined up on May 29 at the London Air P ark. Feltham, Middlesex, for the start. of the Empire Day Air Race to the Isle of Man. One machine a Percival Gull, crashed into a house and' caught fire as it took off, the pilot being killed. The race ended in a fog which obscured the finishing point, and an alteration in arrangements led to a hold-up in making the placing awards.
