NEW SCREEN TYPE: THE "TYPICAL DAUGHTER"
In th® belief that each period produces a type of girl which reflects the temper of the times, such as Mary Pickford, who - was the " World 's Sweetheart," and Clara Bow, who-, was the famous. "It" girl, Vina Delmar,- famous novelist commentator 'on girlhoocl^ recently designated for 1937 a rising young screen actress as "the world 's most typical daughtcr." She is Barbara Eead, brought to new fame by her perf ormance in •' ' Three Smart Girls" and whom Miss Delmar describes as having all the virtues and attributes of tho "typical daughter" of to-day. Miss Delmar, noted for her prize novel "Bad Girl" and who recently wrote the screen-play for Paramount "Make Way for To-morrow," said that the "typical daughter," as exemplxfied by Barbara Eead and her type, was the direct antithesiB of the bad girl which was so well known a decade or so ago. She was a good girl and proud of her goodness; she was pretty, but not so pretty that she didn't fit into the average family. She was five f eet five inches tall, weighed 108 pounds, and had blue eyes and light brown hair. Miss Delmar, evaluated the young actress as "the typical daughter" after associatahg with her during the production of Paramount 's "Make Way For To-morrow," in which#Barbara appears with Beulah Bondi and Yictor Moorea
