GUN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
A. Stead Wins Open Sparrow Handicap Ideal conditions again prevailed yesterday for the continuation of the New Zealand Gun Clubs ' Association 's annual champio.nship meeting under the auspices of the Hawke's Bay Central Gun Club at Longlands. The main event on the programme yesterday was the £100 open sparrow handicap, wsich was won by A. Stead, of Hastings, with a possihle of 12 birds. The match was . characterised by excellent shooting, .the standard being very high througho.ut. The field was a strong one. Detailed results are as follow: — A. Stead (22) 1, E. Groome- (21), S. F. Aburn (19), W. Peek (19)r F. Aseombe (21), and D. J. Macfarlane (16), all tied for second place. The second of the title contests, the 24th New Zealand sparrow ehampionship, is being conductcd to-day under favourable conditions.
