WAIPUKURAU CROQUET FAREWELL AFTERNOON
On Thursday, a very enjoyable afternoon was held at the residence of Mrs L. H. Hawke, Gaisford, Terrace, Waipukurau, where the members of the Waipukurau Croquet Cflub met to farewell Mrs G. Oook, who is leaving Waipukurau shortly to reside in Wellington. Flag "500" had been arranged, seven tables being occupied, while quite a nuber of non-players were also present. The players holding the largest number of flags were Msdames J, Bpndeich, F. Wells, Kicketts, and- Miss Main, wlxo eacb received pretty gifts. The occupier of the lucky chair, Mrs Cook, also received a small gift. After a dainty afternoon tea had been served, the opportunity was taken to present Mrs Cook wiith a small gift from the croquet members. In making the presentation, Mrs Hawke spoke in euiogi&tic terms of Mrs Cook's long years of service to the club, mentioniug how much they all regretted. her de« parture, and extending to her all good wishes for her future bappiness. Mrs Coqk suitably responded. ,
