Cterk's Report to Towii Board "Dumps of red metal have been placod at various points along the remaining macadam roads, and a startwill be made next week with pa'tehmetalling where Tequired," reported the, clerk, Mr. W. H. Anderson, to the monthly meeting of the Havelock ISTorth Town Board last night. The motor at the pumping statiou had been cleaned and tested. The pump had b®611 found to bo in firat* class working order. Water pumped totalled 2,571,000 gallons; water c'onsumed, 1,775,000; leaving a surplus^ of 796,000 gallons. Webb, Acting-Mmister of Jjabour, in the matter of finding work formen at present on sustenance, " said Mr. Anderson. "I have attended a eonference with Mr, J. J. Nimon, and a further meeting with Mr Christie, when the loeal bodies met Mr. W. Bromley, of the Labonr Departiuen^ he board 's requests were givon a very fair hearing by Mr, Bromley, and as a result of the meeting there is evoiy prospect of the works outiined being proceeded with almost at onee. " We supported the Hawke 's Bay Rivers Board in its effort to obtain a subsidy on the work of clearing the old Ngaruroro river-bed from the Hastings road bridge to the stoek road. I understand that the subsidy has been arranged for this work, and that the rivers board will be starting the job at an early date. "Tho sauitary iuspector reports that there havo been no cases of infectious or notifiable diseases during the month."
