Pipes Should Be Completed on Time PROGRESS TO DATE "The turning-out of pipes for the sewer outfall scheme has been. carried .out in a satisfactory manner and should he finished within the time estimated," stated the borough cngineer, Mr C. E. Hvhiis, in ltis "monthly report to the Hastings Boofugh Council. Mr Evans also reported that thb contiaetor had practically completed the work of placing the steel pipes on tho pipe bridge at the river. The machino was then taken to a point about 50 chains from the river towards Whakatu and .a start was made on Juno 25 in laying the 36-inch diameter pipes from this point, working • towards the scwer. Bince that date six chains of pipes had been laid. 'During the month 8^ chqins of the 33-inch diameter pipes had been laid Dy the gang at Tomoana. Very littJe water .whs bCing mqt with, and Ihe trench, which was com)?osGd of silt, sliingle and sand, was "standitig" very well without close timbering.
