EIGHTY-SEVENTH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED BY MRS. SHORT

The eighty-seventh birthday of Mrs Short, of Frederick street, Hastings, was happily celebrated yesterday, when a few of her friends gathered at her home to wish her a very happy birthday. The guests were received by Mra Todd, of Nuhaka, Mrs Short 's daughter, who had presented her mother with a beautiful birthday caket which was enjoyed at afternoon tea. A jolly afternoon was spent, and before departing Mrs Todd thanked everyone for coming to extend their good wishes to her mother. The Rev. D. J. A. Shaw replied on behalf of the visitors, and spoke very highly of Jllrs Short and the pjeasure that it had been to know her during a nuniber of yeans.
