Alfonso's Wife Sacrificing Collection
LONDON, June 15. The Ex-Queen of Spain is to sell her private collection of jewellery. This statement was made by Mr. Paul Flato, a New York jeweller. He added that the Queen had authorised him to sell thom. "It is just for her personal needs, and not for tho Spanish insurgcnts," he explained. A solid gold and emorald cross of 65 earats, which was once worn by Queen Vietoria, is among the pieces for sale. lt is valued at £15,000. The ex-Queen of Spain is a granddaugliter of Queen Vietoria. She was Princess Ena of Battenberg before she married Eing Alfonso in 1906.
