Waipukurau Relief Workers. Fourteen men in Waipukurau are at present employed in work under the No. 5 scherne, compared with 15 a yoar ago. There are at present live men receiving sustenance — the Baine number as at this time last year. New Bank at Waipukurau. Temporary preuiisee in Ruataniwha street have been secured by the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., which will open a Waipukurau branch next Monday. The bank has acquired a site at the corner of Ruataniwha and Northumberland streets, and a twostorey building is shortly to be erected. Mr A. H. Barnaby, accountant at Hastings, has been appointed manager, aml Mr Tarrant, of Petone, teller-accoun-fcftnt. Football and BasketbalL Footbali and basketball teams from 'tho Tikokino School visited Waipawa yesterday afternoon to. play the annual games with the local primary school. In the football the honours went to tho visitors, but Waipawa was successful in winning fhe basketball. St. John Ambulance. Last evening somo oighteen members of the Hastings and Napier branches of tho St. John Ambulance Brigado visited Waipawa at the invitation of the local branch. After matters of general interest to the brigade had been discusscd, supper was served followed by a short niusical programme. Mr D. Chalmere officiated at the piano. During the evening opportunity was taken by Mr R. Hutchings, on behalf of the Waipawa branch, to present to Mr W. E. Yates, who has g'one to reside in Dannevirke, a handsome bronze vase as a mark of appreciation of his services as a member of the branch. Suitable response was made by Mr Yates. ivi* Hutchings also extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, and said it was very gratifying to have such a large partv make the trip.
