Funds for Carnival Queen

WAIPUKURAU, Last JNight. The Masonic Hall, Waipukurau, '»aa attractively decorated with green ery 1'or the very enjoyable dance which was held on Tuesday evening m itid of the funds for Waipukurau's carnival queen, Miss Shirley Clay. Despite the bitterly cold weather, there -'as a large crowd of dancers present, who spent a happy evening dancing to excellent music provided by Leu Lleniy'a orchestra. In the supper-room the longi tabJo: were gay with big bowls of fragrant yellow mimosa, and the hot coffee and delicious hot savouries served were much appreciated by the dancere. The members of the committee to whom great praise is due for the »uccess of their efforts, were: — Mesdames J. A. McLean (organiser), H. Peacock, V. Bradley, O'Rooke, Misses S. McLauchlan, P. Clark and P. Hammond. Prior to the dance a very jolly buffet dinncr was held at Mrs J. A. McLean's residence, Wallace road. Among those dancing were: — . Mrs J. A. McLean, who was wearing a smart gown in mulberry cloque satin the corsage trimmed with narrow bands of brown fur. Mrs A. L. McCormick, model gown in black ring velvet with brilljant clip at the neckline. Mrs O'Rooke, black lace fashioned on slim lines, worn with a rose pink velvet coatee. Mrs V. Bradley, coin spotted ink blue taffeta, with an oriental diamante broach at neckline, worn with a cream coatee. Mrs F. A. G. Dunn, graceful gown in nigger brown lace inset with chanirpagne point lace. Mrs J. Kendall, black velvet with silver accessories. Mxs M. Ferguson, black ring velvet worn with a black embossed gjeorgette coatee. Mrs S. Peterkins, black stiffened taffeta, having a spray of natural flowers on the square cut neckline. Mrs Brooker, frock in rose pink satin with coatee to tone. Mrs Jack Ferguson, uncrushable crepe faille in tones of jade and henna, with a violet posy. Mrs P. Pearce (Hastings), black lace frock with net finishing the neckline. Mrs A. Annand, new rust ripplo crepe with a narrow self stripe and a spray of gold leaves on corsage. Mrs [Hedley Ferguson, attractive frock in scarlet georgette, the skirt very full, worn with a coat in scarlet ring velvet. Mrs Knottage, nile green ring velvet, the sash and bow on neckline lined with silver lame and white fur wrap. Miss P. Clark, black velvet tumc frock, having a daintj spray of asters on corsage. Miss S. McLauchlan, pastel blue stiffened organdie frock and pale pink rosebuds in hair. Miss P. Hammond, wearing daffodil gold velvet slimly fashioned with gold and tangerine frills finishing the low cut neckline. Miss Kath. Glenny, black lace, with a scarlet oorsag® spray worn with a black velvet cape lined with scarlet. Miss Haw (Te Kuiti) red lacquer dotted silk skirt worn with a white lace tunic. Miss J. Hartland, frock in pastel blue and silver lame, having a slit skirt worn with a shoulder spray oi daphne and violets. Miss B. Wilson, blue pheasant spotted taffeta, worn with a pink jacket. Miss J Wilson, cream georgette figured in blue and tangerine and cream knee-length coat. Miss M. Jamieson, mulberry crinkled French crepe, « having puffed sleeves and a headband of white gardenias. Miss B. Benson, black marocain with self celephane stripe, worn with a cherry velvet coatee. Miss J. Sommervilhfc florat georgette in tones of brown, pink and lemon, having pink flowers at neckline. Miss ,S. Monekton, lemon and pinK flowered georgette frock worn with a pink corsage spray. Miss R. Hepburn, saxe blue and white figured crepe, prettily ruchedat waistline. Miss M. Patterson (Hatuma), old gold crinkled satin, having a seart lined with violet, and violet posy. Miss E. Patterson, slimly fashioned frock in black satin, violet flowers in hair. 'Miss K. lliddle, wearing eriinsoti crepe with a lace corsage. and white fur coatee. Miss Cockrane, lemon taffeta flowered in royal blue and lemon. Miss H. Cochrane, shell pink silk lace, having long sleeves and g, pale blue corsage spray. Miss I. Bennett, pale bhje crepe, worn with a white silk shawl. . Miss M. Monteith, cream stiffened organdie, spotted in lemon, worn with lemon shoes. Miss R. Barlow, blaek velvet with a pale pink rose on corsage. Miss R. Ropita, tangerine georgette with narrow waterfall frills on gkirfc and a black wrap. Miss M. Tansley. black satin, having insets of cream lace. Miss Jean Fowler, pale green organdie, sprigged in pink rosebuds, the skirt fully flarcd.
